Dear godmother:
I am Jholman Yesid Rodriguez. I am twelve years old and I finished middle school this year. I live in a very humble neighborhood called “villa maria” where we live in a rented house with my mother and my younger brother. My mother supports us even though she has some health problems because of her disease. She works doing different housework like washing, ironing and cleaning apartments.
I consider I am a solitary child and I have had responsibilities since I was very little. When my father died, life changed for us and two years ago, my little sister died because she had the same disease as my mother. This has been a big issue for me and sometimes I am very affected by this.
I think I am a young boy with a lot of capabilities and I was able to be the best student in my class. I like challenges and one of the challenges I had was to finish elementary school and I made it. I thank God for finding you, I thank you for putting your trust in me and because you offered your help to me. Thanks for giving me a light in the dark tunnel were trouble has submerged me.
Now I would like you to know that I will fight everyday of my life for not disappointing who so generously has given me a hand so I can progress and become a good person able to face big things in society and live up to your expectations of me. I am happy to be able to keep studying so I can finish middle school. Thank you very much.
I would also like to tell you that over the weekends, I work at the market place, in the butcher areas a helper in a little stand. I help my mother to pay for the house expenses with the money I make there.
In this month until January I am on school break so I help my mother with the housework as much as possible. I baby sit my little brother because you understand my mother’s situation better than anyone else.
I have to say goodbye but I hope that you have a very good time these holidays and I pray God blesses you. I hope 2008 brings prosperity and success in your personal life
