Carta Jorge Andrés Duarte

Dear
Godmother:
Teres Smith

Dear godmother receive a greeting and a hug for me, I am writing to remind you again that I am very grateful for the opportunity and collaboration you are offering to me, I wish health and enjoyment for you together with your family.

I hope that in this time of year you are enjoying Christmas and a prosperous 2013.

Also I am writing to tell you that I was good in my studies and I hope to keep doing better and better, I hope you continue collaborating me to advance in my studies, intellectually and in my personal life. Always in my prayers I hope you many blessings, prosperity, health and I hope in the future I can thank you personally all what you have done for me.

I can tell you that this year the representative who comes from Switzerland BETINA SPINGER was talking about you. This year I have the opportunity to learn new things from my parent. Also this year I enjoyed too much with friends and teachers, some funny things happen to me.

I have the chance to travel to Bogotá to Maloka and to the museum we enjoyed this trip because we enjoyed the scenery that is my country, those are the most beautiful in the world you have to come and see them and tell me if I have reason. This year I achieved some of my personal goals but I need to thank you personally.

In the YMCA they teach us too many things about English and other subjects, Istill do not speak it well but I am going to continue working on it hard. I am closer to finish my studies at the college and my family said thank you very much for your help on it.

Godmotheri want to tell you that the Christmas in my country are celebrated so nice, the more traditional is the dinner on December de 24 because this day is the birth of Jesus, the gifts are at twelve o'clock. December 31 is even better because we burn the old year I imagine you're wondering what is that?, is a ritual by tradition and that is to make a doll from old clothes and when it is twelve o'clock precisely when the new year starts we burn it meaning old year ends.

This year no use of gunpowder here because in previous years these dolls were filled with gunpowder which exploded causing accidents, so the police prohibited that. I forgot to say that before this time exactly on December 7 we practice a nice tradition to light candles consistent over the houses and their front gardens to announce the arrival of Christmas like that there are many other traditions in our country, someday I would like to know the customs and traditions of your  country.

On the other hand I want to tell you that mid-year in June is a very special date, because for those days we celebrate the Colombian festival of folklore in my city because Ibagué - Tolima is the Colombian musical capital; the music festival in which the best musicians in the region performing his songs with acoustic guitar plus some dance groups all these festivities are part of the tradition and as children we teach but in recent years has changed a lot and has tended to disappear however I would like to hear those beautiful songs for ever.

Again I remind you that I did a brief summary of what has happened to me and I wanted to tell you about the traditions of my country and my city for you to know them a little. Again I want to thank you for everything you have done for me and I hope someday to meet you personally and tell you much more of my country.

I wish you a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2013

Sincerely,

Jorge Andrés Duarte.
