Dear Godparents:
I hope you are enjoying wellness, prosperity and health.
I would like to tell you that this year I finished eight grade, I had some difficulties specially in Spanish, which I have to make up for in January, but I was promoted to ninth grade.
I would like to thank you for trusting in me and for offering me your support and giving me a headlight to guide me in my difficult times. Now I want you to know that I fight everyday of my life for not disappointing the people who generously have given me a hand. I want to progress and become a good man.
As for my family, I would like to tell you that this year the government relocated us in another neighborhood called “La Martinica” because the house we used to live in, located in “El Bosque” was on a high risk zone. Now we live in a small pre-made house, but it is safe. This affected us a lot because we lived in “El Bosque” for many years and all our friends stayed there but we are finally trying to adapt to our new environment.
My father continues working as a security guard in an apartment condominium and my mother stays at home because we are five kids and there is not anyone to take care of the youngest ones. For this reason, my family depends on what my father makes, which is the minimum wage. We have a lot of difficulties but we have the hope that God will never leave us.
I frequently go to the YMCA and I take part on the different English workshops that have been very useful for me to familiarize with this language. On Saturdays I have music classes, I like them because I feel happy and I share with other people. I also go to the library of the YMCA and even though it is small, I usually find what I need for my homework. I can use the computers and the internet there as well.
I would really like it if you could send me some pictures to see you. I would be enormously happy if I got a letter from you.
I would also like to share with you that
I say good bye by telling you once again how grateful and reminding you the appreciation and admiration I feel for you. I will always thank God for putting people like you on my way.
I hope you are very happy on these holidays and that 2008 brings a lot of success for your life and your family’s.
Yours truly,
Jose Jesus agudelo
